Slewing bearings abnormal sound is usually analyzed in two circumstances: new products have abnormal sound and slewing rings in service have abnormal sound.
Below are some suggestions for identifying and solving the abnormal sound problem of slewing bearings:
If the new purchased slewing bearing has some soft sound during rotation before installation, rotate the bearing for a few minutes and the sound shall fade. If there is still abnormal sound, but the slewing ring's rotation is smooth. It's probably caused by the bearing's slight deformation during transportation. The sound will fade in a period of time after application, please rest assured to use.
If the new slewing ring has loud noise during rotation and the sound does not fade in 2~4 months, please contact your supplier.

If the slewing bearings abnormal sound arises after installation, please check if the mounting surface is flat. Unqualified flatness may cause a slewing ring raceway's negative clearance, which leads to the noise.
Solutions: Reprocessing the mounting surface or use a washer to achieve the standard flatness.
First of all, the user shall confirm if the sound is made by slewing rings. Some noises made by steel structure or other components are often mistaken for the sound made by bearing. Therefore, we can determine the source of the sound after stop the slewing ring's rotation, and keep other components working.
If it's the slewing rings' noise, below are several reasons:
a) The raceway lacks grease, the rolling elements, and the separators run into each other thus making the sound. A timely greasing will eliminate this problem.
b) Check if the raceway has some contaminants, such as sand, burr, etc. This situation often accompanied by difficult rotation (the working environment is generally terrible), meanwhile please notice if the sealing is damaged.
c) Check if the installation bolts are loose. Loose bolts will lead to elastic deformation of slewing bearings, and deformation position arises negative clearance. Learn about the requirements of slewing bearing bolts tightening.
If the above conditions are excluded, the slewing ring still has abnormal sound, please contact your supplier. In addition to abnormal noise, overheating is also a problem often faced during the use of slewing bearings. We will discuss this in the future.
