There are often users indicated that the excavators slewing bearings emits relatively loud sounds during use, and there are abnormal noises. What is the reason for this? Today BRS Bearing will share with you the most common reasons for this problem.
First of all, when the slewing bearing is rotating without loads after leaving the factory, there will be a uniform sound of steel ball rolling, which is a normal sound. Don't be worry if such small sound occurs, it will generally disappear after a period of rotation. What we are talking about today is relatively loud and abnormal sounds that you need to pay attention.
When abnormal noise occurs, it is necessary to first determine whether it is due to improper installation operation. When the flatness of the mounting surface fails to meet the requirements, a negative clearance will be formed on the raceway, which will cause abnormal noise. Sometimes, abnormal noise may lead to broken teeth. In addition, when the mounting bolts are loose, the slewing bearing is elastically deformed, and a negative gap is generated in the deformed position. You need to immediately check and tighten the bolts as required. (Check how to mount slewing bearings.)
When there are foreign objects such as sand and iron chips invaded in the slewing bearing, non-periodic vibration will occur. When encountering this situation, the bearings, shafts, seat holes, and matching parts must be cleaned strictly before installation to remove foreign objects in the lubricant in time. Remember to avoid using plastic cages with impure materials or embedded foreign objects.
Check whether the sealing strip is worn. The structure of the slewing bearing sealing strip plays a key role in sealing. When the sealing strip and the slewing bearing cannot be completely fitted, it is easy to cause grease leakage. In addition, the aging resistance and butter resistance of the seal material are also issues to be considered.
When the rolling surface of the slewing bearing is cracked, indented or rusted, periodic vibrations will cause abnormal noise. The cracks will continuously occur on the raceway, and on steel balls from time to time. The noise varies with installation and lubrication conditions. The solution is not to knock the bearing or use high viscosity grease during installation.
The abnormal noise during the slewing of the excavator is likely to be caused by severe wear of the slewing bearing raceways and rolling elements. At this time, the slewing bearing needs to be repaired.
We all know that the working environment of excavators is relatively harsh, and the rotary table bearing (slewing bearing) of the excavator generally works under a large load. The abnormal noise of the slewing bearing is a common problem. Don't worry, we just need to find out the right reason and solve it in a targeted manner.
