Allowable rotational speeds of crossed roller bearings are affected by mounting and operating conditions. In general, the d_mn values of sealed type crossed roller bearing with separator is 60000. For example, if the RU66 bearing is used, it has a roller PCD of 66mm. So the allowable rpm is about 60000/66 = 909rpm.

7. What is the crossed roller bearing stiffness?

The stiffness(or rigidity) of crossed roller bearings refers to the amount of force required for the bearing to deform per unit. The elastic deformation of rolling bearings is very small, which can be ignored in most machines. But for some precision machines, such as machine tool spindles, the stiffness of bearing is an important factor.
Generally, crossed cylindrical roller bearings have higher rigidity because their rolling elements are in line contact with the raceway. Their elastic deformation is smaller compared with ball bearings since steel balls are in point contact with the raceway.

So how does the crossed roller bearing to achieve high stiffness? A preload is often applied in advance during bearing assembling to make them compact. And the cross array of cylindrical rollers allows a cross roller bearing unit to support loads from all directions, hence increasing the stiffness.

How to lubricate crossed roller bearings?
Unless otherwise stated, all BRS made crossed roller bearings are filled with a proper amount of complex lithium grease before delivery. So users can directly put bearings into the application after receiving goods. Then after 1~6 months of operation, based on its working conditions, the bearing should be added with proper grease through lubrication holes.
